Opal Card in Sydney

Taking public transportation in Sydney is incredibly straightforward, and we discovered it to be the most budget-friendly way to travel. You can pick up an Opal card at the airport’s train station and load it with as much credit as you like. Use Google Maps to figure out how to get to your destination, and you can easily top up your Opal card at train stations or many grocery stores. The Opal card also works for ferry services (though not for the Fast Ferry).
