Traveling to Japan for the first time can feel overwhelming, given the sheer amount of information out there. That’s exactly how I felt planning meticulously, then losing track, starting again, and falling into a spiral of endless possibilities. With only nine days on the itinerary, I wasn’t sure how to begin, how to make the most of each stop, or how to wrap up what might be a once-in-a-lifetime trip.
Then I remembered that the most important thing is to be fully present in each experience. Whatever we chose to see and do was going to be unforgettable, and the memories we created together would stand the test of time.
In truth, there was no way to fit everything into such a short visit. Even if we’d been able to stay for several months, I’m certain we still wouldn’t have covered all the beauty and wonders Japan has to offer. My personal highlights included splitting our stay between Tokyo and Kyoto, with day trips to Nara and Osaka.
If you’re planning your own journey, take a deep breath and choose the sights and activities that truly matter to you. It doesn’t make sense to stress over a vacation this is your time to relax. Sometimes, fewer activities can lead to more enjoyment. I left Japan filled with more joy than I had expected, and by God’s grace, I hope to visit again someday.
I’m grateful to God for all my travels and so much more.
